NUTRABAITS MISCELLANEOUS PROD

We have always tried, wherever possible, to group products together in specific categories within our product range… but sometimes this simply is not practical.

The Miscellaneous Product range includes products that vary greatly from one to another and that do very different jobs. It includes our highly rated Bait Soak Complexes, the awesome Betaine HC1, a DIY Preservative, Emulsifiers, Attractors and Powdered Dyes. In short, anything you are unable to find elsewhere in our Product Guide can probably be found in this section.

Bait Soak Complex

A high quality nutritional hookbait soak containing: Nutramino, Multimino PPC, Corn Steep Liquor, Sweet Cajouser and dissolved Betaine HC1.

This high attract bait soak is specifically designed to be used as either a short term or long term hookbait soak and will considerably increase the pulling power of any baits that are immersed in it. Results have clearly shown that, within reason, the longer baits are left in the soak the greater their attraction qualities become. Certainly leaving hookbaits soaking for up to 12 months shouldn’t cause you any problems!

Although the Bait Soak Complex has a proven track record on its own, it is really intended to be used in conjunction with identical flavour combinations used in your bait mix. Simply double the flavour/essential oil dosage you are using in a 5 egg bait mix and add to this pot.

The Bait Soak Complex is ideal for use with pop-ups, balanced or standard bottom baits. Generally speaking the Bait Soak Complex will act as a preservative while ever baits remain covered in solution.

For best results store in a fridge between sessions.

Preservabait

Developed for us by long-time Nutrabaits user Ken Townley. Ken spends a great deal of time fishing on the continent and this, coupled with his vast knowledge of bait, made him the ideal person to develop a totally safe yet effective shelf-life additive for us. We weren’t disappointed!

Five years on, here it is, a delicate blend of products that combine to produce the ultimate shelf-life additive. Simply add 25ml to a 16oz/500g mix, dry your baits thoroughly after boiling and there you have it! Shelf-life baits that, depending on the mix and other additives used, will last between 2 and 10 months.

Not surprisingly, this is a massive seller for us and one that anybody who either fishes abroad or doesn’t have the use of a freezer will get enormous benefit from.

A quick tip about storing finished baits – keep baits in either cardboard boxes, hessian sacks or some other form of breathable container, not in polythene bags which make the baits sweat.

Betaine HC1

The much-whispered-about Betaine HC1 is closely related to the amino acid glycine.

It is a naturally occurring substance that is present in minute quantities in plants, yeasts, fungi and in the flesh of fish, crustaceans and molluscs.
Its potential as a natural attractor has long been recognised in the world of fish nutrition and, as such, it is present in many commercially available fish diets.

Betaine Hydrochloride (HC1) can be used to great effect in any type of base mix and will combine superbly with a wide variety of flavours, essential oils and Cajousers. This is without doubt one of the most effective additives we have ever used. Its track record in terms of putting fish on the bank really does put it up amongst the finest natural attractors of all time. Ideal for use at any time of the year. The recommended level for 16oz/500g of dry mix is 1-2g. A level measure of the spoon enclosed weighs 2g.

Caproic Acid

Caproic Acid, or Hexanoic Acid as it is sometimes known is naturally occurring oily liquid that is primarily found in animal fats and oils and that is predomently used in the production of high quality pharmaceutical products. In short, Caproic Acid is a sister product to the legendary N-Butyric Acid and although it boasts an equally distinctive aroma and comparable carp catching capabilities, it is not quite as evil on the nose. In common with N-Butyric, Caproic Acid it is best used as either the main attractor at the inclusion rate shown or at half that level in combination with the nature identical flavour of your choice.

N-Butyric Acid

Arguably the most anti-social smell of the lot, and undoubtedly one of the most effective. If it hasn’t been fished-out on a water it will catch – but will the trouble and strife let you use it? Probably not, and with just cause; it’s revolting!

We really would prefer it if you didn’t buy this product, just to save our long-suffering lads the aggravation of bottling more of it!

If you insist on using it, we suggest either using it on its own at the recommended level, as shown on the bottle, or at a couple of drops with the flavour of your choice.

Sweetener

Although this sweetener is human food grade quality and used in sweet production, we are still a little bit unsure about recommending its use in long term food baits; although we’ve been proved wrong before. This is an ideal addition to our 50/50 Mix. The effectiveness of sweeteners in this type of mix is well known and the further addition of a Nutrafruit or spice is a popular choice.

Don’t get confused between this product and Sweet Cajouser. Cajouser is very sweet to taste but under no stretch of the imagination could it be classed as a concentrated sweetener. 1ml per 16oz/500g of this sweetener will make your bait taste very sweet indeed. Only trouble is, you’ll finish up eating most of the baits yourself!

Emulsifier

When we looked at emulsifiers they made us a bit unhappy. Some of them had a skull and crossbones by the side of their name, which is bad news by any standards – some of those in common use at that! We wanted an emulsifier that was not only safe but, if possible, nutritious too. In the end we found one – and this is it. An extremely well-known product, stunning in its simplicity, slightly sweet, very palatable and nutritional in the form in which we market it.

Iso-Eugenol

Iso-Eugenol is actually a natural extract of clove, but cannot really be classed as an oil. Demand forced us to put this out, although we haven’t used it very much ourselves.

Many anglers have reported very good results, both on its own and at low level with an essential oil label. It does thicken slightly in colder temperatures, so we would recommend our emulsifier for winter use. A very effective additive for short term, high attract baits.

Arouser

This is a liquid blend of herb and spice extracts in a very, very concentrated form. Makes a classic combination with Cajoler, the two of them together having been the basis of the attractor source in a great many successful carp baits.

Arouser can be used on its own, or as a back-up to flavours or oils, but you need very little of it in a bait. As the main smell, a quarter of a mil is an absolute maximum, with even less needed where it is used as a back-up.

Cajoler Powder

Before we encountered Sweet Cajouser we would have said this was the nicest bait additive around. Sweet Cajouser definitely puts it in the shade, but a great many people have been using Cajoler for some time now, and will wish to go on doing so.

It has a lovely creamy smell to it and is one of the enhancers we use in The Nutramix.

50-Mix Powdered Dyes

For anglers who like to give their bait the fluoro look we produce a range of top quality, highly concentrated, powdered dyes. The range includes Red, Yellow, Pink, Orange and the not-so-fluoro Golden Brown. Hugely popular with fans of the alternative hookbait approach.

Powdered dyes are available in 50-mix pots that include a measuring spoon.
